Vitiligo is a skin disorder that appears as white patches on skin. This is due to melanocytes (pigment producing cells) being attacked and destroyed. It can affect any part of skin on your body and also your hair and eyes. The term “vitiligo” comes from the Latin word “vitelius” meaning “calf.” It was first used by a roman physician named Celsus in the second century AD.
