“That is what being a man is all about… doing what has to be done.” This quote was said by Robert Peck’s father and was from a novel, A day no pigs would die. It clearly states that a man has to be a man, and they have to do what has to be done. Everybody must make difficult choices in life, but Rob Peck’s choices were very hard. Rob Peck had to grow up and mature quicker than most people of his age because he had to run the farm after his father’s death, the slaughter of Pinky, and because he had to get rid of the farm.
One of the reasons why Rob Peck matured quicker then most people his age is because of the death of father. Once his father died, he had to take over the farm. Rob Peck, at his age, had a big responsibility to take care of the farm. Most people his age would not be doing what he were doing, taking over the farm. Most people his age were doing what kids his age had to do, but not Rob Peck.
Another reason why Rob Peck matured quicker than most people his age was because of the slaughter one of his best friends. His best friend was Pinky, a harmless pig, which was his only pet. Not only did he know that Pinky was going to get slaughtered, but he actually had to be part of the slaughtering. The way he had to slaughter Pinky was probably something that made him mature quicker. To anybody, the killing of a best friend is really hard to handle and can make you mature quicker.
